more new wool.....and a book....
2 x 50g balls of Jojoland Melody, each ball has 220yards, knitting needle size 2.25mm - 3.25mm for 7-8 stitches per inch. Difficult to describe the shade as it is a changing melange of mauve, pink, peach lemon and aqua. Here's a pic:
looks and feels beautiful: from ebay.
Also got a lace knitting book:
"Wrapped In Comfort - Knitted Lace Shawls" by Alison Jeppson Hyde. I've just had a quick look so far, but it looks like just what I wanted......I'll enjoy a good long mooch through it later on, after a Stargate Atlantis episode on DVD. And then The Sopranos on TV. Quite a mix :)

new Opal sock yarn, and stitch markers
two weeks since I blogged......my head's just been clogged up with reaction to the emotional stuff.
Anyway, here now, and writing about something nice........today's post brought me this: Opal Zircus sock yarn, shade 2000, absolutely gorgeous and looks good enough to eat :)
and these:
millefiore stitch markers....I don't normally like heart shapes, but these are beautiful . I'm very fond of millefiore and it'll add pleasure to the making of the sock.
Both came from KnitterBabes, a UK ebay shop; I've bought from them before and they are alovely friendly place to deal with.
Trying to finish the second in a pair of gauntlet length fingerless mitts, for myself, in time for Thursday, so I can show them off - going for the second of three tetanus boosters. They're also in Opal, but the thicker type, Ladybird colour: lovely red and white with little bits of black, and done on two Addi circs. The pattern is a mix of different sources....really just made up; cast on 52 stitches, k2p2 rib fot a couple of inches, then stocking stitch as long as I want them, finishing with a thumb gusset and ribup to near my top knuckles.
I should have made the thumb longer as I have a very long thumb(have hyper mobility syndrome).....will remember this for future ones as it's a nice, easy, 'mindless' project.
Pictures when finished if I can :)

process......
I've been thinking about the whole blogging thing - about why I'm doing it; and I've come to the conclusion that it's first and foremost for ME. A collection of bits and pieces, 'journally' entries, pictures, links, sites which interest me or which I belong to.....a source page for myself of and for things which I enjoy.
It's also a means of communication - sometimes I know, when people post or email me, and sometimes I don't: perhaps someone will pass by and have a read, and maybe click on a link, or look at a picture, and find something of interest, but I'll never know........I rather like that idea too. I like the mix, the combination, the way it achieves different things for me in different ways. It's at one and the same time a notebook for me to keep for myself, to remember things, to talk or question, to list my likes and thoughts, and also a means of letting myself be a little open to showing that to people, and maybe giving an idea or a piece of information along the way.
Or even as I've found from reading other blogs, occasionally someone might 'pass through' and read something and go away thinking 'I'm glad someone else feels that way too......'
so, this afternoon I've spent a wee while tinkering and pottering and adding a few links and bits and pieces of more of the things which interest me. And I greatly enjoyed it :)
so it's as much about the process as anything else, I guess.....
